Autism Fitness again joins up with the NY Metro Chapter of the National Autism Association for Fitness and Active Play Day in Central Park, this time we will be joined by Roxanne Chess, who is the Supervisor of Occupational Therapy at the Atlas Foundation for Autism, who will add yoga to the mix!
Autism Fitness Founder Eric Chessen will lead a series of exercise activities for all age and ability levels. Using cones, fitness ropes, Dynamax medicine balls, and Sandbells, we will have outstanding opportunities to explore movement and play for an afternoon.
The event will feature an active group warm-up with animal-style movements including bear walks, frog hops, and T-rex stomps. From there, we will break into smaller groups to go through the fitness course which will feature stations of medicine ball throws to partners, fitness rope swings, hurdle steps, and Sandbell (weighted) activities. Fitness professionals trained by Eric will be on-site to assist.
Following the fitness routines, Roxanne will lead a basic yoga class for all and there will be a card-book with the poses available to take home!
NOTE: GLUTEN & DAIRY FREE SNACKS PLUS BEVERAGES WILL BE PROVIDED
