About the event

In December, 2017, Congress passed a new tax law with some portions of the law permanent while others are temporary, during 2018 and through year 2025.

Ameriprise Financial has identified some areas that may affect you as taxpayers, of this tax year and for years to come. For example, for families with special needs loved ones, there is now an enhanced income tax benefit to using a Qualified Disability Trust (the “QDT”), an increase in the personal exemption, and for the first time, an exemption against the “kiddie tax.”

In addition, the new law includes expansion of ABLE accounts and allowance of 529 Plan rollovers.

Administrating a Special Needs Trust requires balancing of proper investments, management of distributions and reporting of taxes, to serve the best interests of the beneficiary. This complex mix of trustee duties requires special knowledge and an appropriate team of professionals. Learn how changes in the tax law have impacted the management of special needs trusts and how one as a trustee, can serve the best interests of one’s child while staying clear of the administrative minefield.

The NAA NY Metro looks forward to welcoming you at the Iron Birch Advisor’s location for this seminar.
